We're excited to get your pet's longevity journey started. Follow the steps below to make sure our lab can get the most out of your sample.
STEP 1
Check your kit
Make sure your kit includes the following:
1 cheek swab
1 labeled sample tube
1 biohazard bag
1 pre-paid return mailer

STEP 2
Before you begin
Make sure your pet has not eaten for at least 30 minutes.
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Choose a calm, well-lit space.
Do not open the swab until you are ready to collect.
STEP 3
Collect the Cheek Swab

Open the swab package carefully.
Do not touch the soft tip.

Gently hold your pet’s head steady.

Lift your pet’s lip and place the swab inside the cheek.

Firmly rub and rotate the swab against the inside of the cheek for 30 full seconds.
Keep the swab in constant contact with the cheek.
Remove the swab carefully.
Do not let it touch fur, teeth, or your hands.
STEP 4
Secure the Sample
Uncap the collection tube and then place the swab directly into the tube.
Then, break the swab stick at the marked line and re-cap the tube tightly.
Make sure the cap is fully sealed.
STEP 5
Invert & label the sample
Once the collection tube is fully capped, invert the tube 10 times (i.e., rotate in the opposite direction) to ensure the swab is covered in solution
Label the collection tube with your name, your pet's name, and the date.
STEP 6
Mail the sample

Place the sealed tube into the biohazard bag.

Place the biohazard bag into the pre-paid return mailer.

Seal the mailer completely.

Mail the package via USPS within 24 hours of collection. You may place it in your mailbox for pickup or drop it off at a local USPS location.
Delays beyond this window may affect sample quality.
